Bollywood Movies

When you watch a Hollywood movie you only sit for a couple hours and depending on the rating of the movie you might witness sex scenes, profanity, gore or violence etc. Typically Hollywood movies are no more then two hours except for the movies such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Avatar. But Bollywood movies go beyond the typical time of a Hollywood movie. Each movie is pretty much a good 3 hours or 2 hours and 59 minutes and 32 seconds. The theme of almost every movie is a girl and guy falling in love and in this love triangle includes lots of drama. Not only is there drama but theres lots of songs, random songs! A girl running towards the guy of her dreams and while running there's back ground music. When the finally reaches the guy she hugs him and looks deep into his eyes and comes closer to him and closer and then she runs away giggling. Because up until four years ago you would never see kissing in Indian movies. However that has changed and there's full make out scenes except lets just say, that they don't know how its done. To better describe Indian movies Russell peters is the perfect example.

I hope you enjoyed that clip :)

Don't get the wrong idea about Bollywood films, they may be long but they are really entertaining. About 1000 movies are released annually in India, about twice the output of Hollywood. In those 1000 there are a good 5 movies that are hits. Clearly producers have so much money to waste each year. Its all about luck.

  2. I love how Russell describes Bollywood movies, it's so true! My whole life I have liked a total of 3 bollywood movies, maximum 5.

  4. Russell Peters is plain funny. He knows his comedy. So, thank you for the video post; It was great to laugh just now.

I have seen Bollywood movies before, some in clips on YOuTube, and some in their complete production. They are not bad. I enjoy the costumes, always colorful and resonating of culture. For me, the attire is as important as the acting. It goes hand-in-hand with make-up. They both enhance a performance by bringing extra information, mood, and character.

If I could go back in time and pick a period, I would pick any with grand clothes. If only for a glimpse. :)

Also, It would be exciting to try on one of these Bollywood dances. After seeing SYTYCD, I know just how hard they are (so detailed!), but it looks like fun.

    Take care,
    Maria
